Pelin Tan
Pelin Tan is a Turkish sociologist born in Hilden, Germany (1974) by a migrant worker family at Ford in Cologne. Tan is the 6th recipient of Keith Haring Art and Activism award, and Lead Author of the report of Cities of Int. Panel of Social Progress (Cambridge, 2018). Tan pursued her postdoc at Art, Culture and Technology program of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2011). She worked at the Art History, Istanbul Technical University (2001 – 2011), Architecture Faculty, Mardin Artuklu University (2013 – 2017) and was visiting professor in Hong Kong Polytechnic School of Design and the Bard College Human Rights Programm.
Currently, Tan is a professor at Batman University, Turkey, senior researcher at the Center for Arts, Design and Social Research, Boston and researcher at the Architecture Faculty, Thessaly University, Greece.
As a curator she is presently working for the Swedish Arts Grants Committee’s International Programme (IASPIS, Stockholm), the Museum of Art, Architecture and technology (MAAT, Lissabon) as well as for »Cosmological Gardens: Land, Cultivation, Care« by the Center for Arts, Design and Social Research (CAD+SR).
