The International Building Exhibition 2027 StadtRegion Stuttgart (IBA’27) put out a call for projects in the urban area of Stuttgart in October 2018. We have since been working intensively with local authorities, investors and research institutes on the topics relating to the future that preoccupy the Stuttgart Region but also the international architecture and urban planning scene.
Right now, there are 16 official IBA’27 Projects and about 80 further proposals in the IBA’27 Network.
In the coming months and years, there will be tenders and competitions in the areas of architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture for many of them.
What they all have in common is the desire to achieve a respectful approach to materials, spaces and social relationships. The projects arise from the transformation of mere commercial or residential areas or from the reinvention of monofunctional large-scale structures from the 1960s and 1970s on the way to the mixed-use Productive City. They involve turning public transport hubs into urban meeting places or seeking to win back the Rivers as a space for living and connecting links that forge the identity of the Region. They also encompass the renewal of the Werkbund settlement in Stuttgart Weissenhof and its redevelopment for residents, the academic community and the general public.
IBA’27 offers an international newsletter in English that keeps architecture and planning offices up to date on new tenders and competitions.
