Urban planning competition: Redevelopment Post/Voba Site, Sindelfingen
DE-71063 Sindelfingen
Ideas competition with urban design stage on the basis of the RPW 2013
As part of the IBA’27 project »Sindelfingen macht Mitte«, the City of Sindelfingen is launching a non-open urban planning competition. The competition is limited to 15 participants. Five offices have already been selected by the competition organisers. Ten further offices can qualify for participation. The number of applications to participate in the competition is unlimited.
In the future, a place with an individual idea for an urban, flexibly usable and mixed quarter in the city centre is to be created on the Post-/VoBa-Areal. The Post/VoBa Site is to become the focal point of Sindelfingen city centre, a place which fosters a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere and at the same time provides impetus for further developments in the centre of the city. The competition area covers a total of approx. 1.1 hectares. With the development of the Post/VoBa site, the municipality of Sindelfingen wants to set an urban and architectural showcase for future building projects in the centre of Sindelfingen and contribute to the IBA’27. A lively mix of uses, active ground-floor zones, different residential typologies, high-quality open spaces – these topics are to be given special prominence in the discussion. Regarding sustainability, proposals are expected to take a stance on the topics of densification, recycling, climate protection, mobility, resource consumption, energy efficiency and economic feasibility and put forward new, innovative ways of tackling them.
With a view to the IBA’27, participants are encouraged to submit innovative contributions. An open and experimental approach is welcomed.
