Dr. Hans Drexler
Hans Drexler is head of DGJ Architektur that designs sustainable and energy-efficient buildings, with a focus on low-cost housing and timber construction.
Drexler has been teaching and researching since 2005 in the field of sustainable building design at the Technical University of Darmstadt and 2009 – 2013 as guest professor at the Münster School of Architecture. Between 2013 and 2018 he has been guest professor for Construction, Energy and Building Technology at Jade University of Applied Sciences in Oldenburg. His research focuses on building construction and prefabrication, timber construction, design methods.
Previously he studied architecture at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Städelschule Architecture Class (SAC) in Frankfurt and graduated from ETH Zurich (Federal Institute of Technology) in 1998. Subsequently, he obtained a Master of Architectural Design Bartlett School UC London. In 2020 he completed his doctorate »Interaction of Space, Use and Construction – Exploratory Development of a Timber Construction System« within the Design-based doctorate program (PEP) at the TU Berlin with summa cum laude.
